Instructor

William Layher

William is a certified Missouri educator who has been in the classroom for over 25 years — as a university professor, a German teacher, a Kindergarten assistant, and nearly everything else in between.

After finishing his Ph.D. at Harvard University, he took a position at Washington University in St. Louis, where he spent 9 years as a faculty member teaching at the graduate and undergraduate level. He has authored or co-authored three books and published over 20 scholarly articles in the USA and in Europe.

In 2011 his passion for teaching led him in another direction, away from the ivory tower. He joined the faculty of the Waldorf School of St. Louis as the 4th grade teacher. Most recently he has taught Middle School and 2nd Grade at Madison Waldorf School in Madison, Wisconsin. In Fall 2018 he began a new position teaching German at Ladue Middle School.
